出生於東海岸花蓮縣，環繞巍峨的山巒和廣闊的海洋，大自然是范萱苡的兒時生活。駐留在三棧溪及充滿雅石的岩岸海邊，范萱苡總是興奮地探索尋找著心目中的「寶石」。八歲以後，范萱苡隨著父母來到台南，有別於花蓮的環境，貝殼取代了雅石，搜尋「寶石」的感受卻凝聚在范萱苡之心中不曾忘懷。就讀於新竹教育大學，范萱苡開始接觸玻璃藝術創作課程，認識這個台灣著名的玻璃工業城市，自此踏進「創造寶石」之路。
Born in Haulien County , Nature is Fan’s childhood environment, surrounding by gorgeous mountains, extensive ocean, and streams abound for beautiful stones. After 8 years old, Fan moved to Tainan City . The ideal of searching for precious gems hauntingly vibrates in Fan’s mind, even though there’re more seashells than stones in western coast. Since studying in Hsinchu University of Education, Fan began to learn glass creation, and tried to understand Hsinchu City , where is one of the famous city for glass industry in Taiwan . And then, Fan began her way to “create precious gems”.
玻璃之特性瞬息萬變，如同人的意念一樣快速；此特性不僅開啟了范萱苡對於製作玻璃之興趣，亦鼓勵與支持著范萱苡對玻璃創作的堅持與努力。對范萱苡而言，學習玻璃工藝的歷程遠比想像中來的艱辛與困難，它需要對於環境的適應力以及克服體力、耐力的求學態度。不過在台灣藝術大學碩士修業期間，范萱苡體會到—不管什麼樣的氣泡都是往上飄，若是人人都可以學習這種精神，一直追求進步，那就會更加完美了。
Variation as soon as human’s ideal is the most showy characteristic of glass creation. It inspires Fan and supports her to strive for glass creation. Learning glass craft is a tough work, it requests the artist to adapt to hard environment, takes lots of efforts and patience. During the process of creation, however, Fan apprehends that all bubbles flowing toward the sky. Things would be perfect if everyone learn upward spirit to pursuit for progression. |
